As is reception issues, Bluetooth connection problems, and proximity sensor failures weren't enough, Apple has announced that elusive white iPhone 4 will be delayed even longer.

This is Apple's official statement:
White models of Apple's new iPhone 4 have continued to be more challenging to manufacture than we originally expected, and as a result they will not be available until later this year. The availability of the more popular iPhone 4 black models is not affected.
According to a report from 21st Century Business Herald, the company that produces the glass for the iPhone 4, Lens Technology, is having production problems with applying white paint to the glass. More specifically, the company is having problems with finding the right balance of paint thickness to allow clearance for the digitizers while at the same time adhering to the physical standards for "beauty" that Apple has for its products.

Apple's iPhone 4 retails for $199 (16GB) and $299 (32GB) with a two-year contract. Due to the production problems with the white iPhone, only the black model is currently available.

HOW-TO: Downgrade iPhone firmware from 3.1.3 to 3.1.2

If you’ve made the mistake of upgrading to 3.1.3 before checking if there was a jailbreak option available for the new firmware, fear not because you are not alone! I have done a bit of research and found several bits of information on different sites so decided to write this article and aggregate all the details in one place.

Following the steps below I have managed to get my iPhone 3G back to firmware 3.1.2 and then use blackra1n to jailbreak it again. Please note this is likely to erase all the current data on your phone so make sure you have recent backup of your apps, media and settings (this should happen automatically everytime you synchronise your phone anyway!).. Also it is important to note that this method will not downgrade your baseband!

You will need to have some understanding of computers to get through this tutorial but I have tried to keep it as basic as option:

1. Firstly you need to download firmware 3.1.2 to your computer. You can find the right version for your phone on the iClarified site. Save this file to your Desktop as we will need to use it during the restore process.

2. Open iTunes and connect your iPhone using the USB cable. If you haven’t synced your phone in a while now is a good time to do it so you can make sure there’s a recent backup of all your data.

3. Once the sync is finished, go to the iPhone summary screen (screenshot below) and OPTION+CLICK (Mac) or CTRL+CLICK (PC) the restore button. This will open a window for you to select the firmware file you wish to restore. Navigate to your desktop and click on the file you downloaded in step 1. The restoring process will begin.

4. After a few minutes a phone boot ups your device will have finished the restoring process but you will receive a 1015 error. DO NOT WORRY, this is actually good and it means the firmware was downloaded and installed properly.

5. Download iRecovery from this link (PC and Mac versions available). If you are on a PC you will need to install the usblib file that is part of the archive and then install the latest version of iRecovery which can be downloaded from here.

6. Once iRecovery is installed, run it from the command line by typing “irecovery -s”. Wait for the ] prompt and type the following. In my case I waited for quite a bit for the ] prompt and it didn’t appear so I pressed enter a couple of types and the ] prompt finally came up.

After the last line you should be taken back to the command line prompt which is now safe to be closed.

7. Reboot your phone by holding the HOME + POWER buttons for about 10 seconds. Once the phone is booted go to SETTINGS -> GENERAL -> ABOUT to confirm that the firmware is in fact the 3.1.2 (screenshot below).

8. You are now ready to jailbreak your phone again using blackra1n which can be downloaded here

9. Once blackra1n works its magic and the phone is restarted, open iTunes and synchronise your media files and applications back to the phone. Please note that if you have installed any apps using IPAs downloaded from websites other than the iTunes / Cydia / Rock store, you will need to install the AppSync for OS 3.1 patch which can be found at the Hackulous repo http://cydia.hackulo.us/

Que votre iPhone soit jailbreaké ou pas, que vous soyez sur l’iOS 4.0 ou sur un firmware antérieur comme le firmware 3.1.3, 3.1.2, etc…, il est très important de sauvegarder le SHSH de votre iPhone 3GS ou iPhone 4 pour l’iOS 4.0 dès maintenant. Une fois la mise à jour iOS 4.1 sortie, vous ne pourrez plus faire la sauvegarde de votre SHSH pour l’iOS 4.0 et sans le SHSH sauvegardé pour l’iOS 4.0, vous ne pourrez pas faire de downgrade de l’iOS 4.1 à l’iOS 4.0.

Pour sauvegarder le SHSH de votre iPhone, il suffit d’utiliser TinyUmbrella en suivant les étapes ci-dessous.

Sur Windows :
Depuis le menu Démarrer, recherchez Notepad > faites un clic droit et sélectionnez « Executer en tant qu’administrateur» > entrez votre mot de passe administrateur. Dans Notepad, cliquez sur Fichier > Ouvrir > naviguez jusqu’au dossier C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc et sélectionnez le fichier Hosts(Si Notepad ne trouve pas votre fichier Hosts, sélectionnez « Tous les fichiers» au lieu de « Fichiers textes (*.txt)» .

Notepad ouvrira le fichier Hosts. Dans le fichier Hosts, ajoutez # au début de chaque ligne contenant gs.apple.com > sauvegardez le fichier, puis quittez Notepad :

Lancez Terminal > Entrez la commande suivante puis appuyez sur Entrer :

Conservez précieusement ce fichier qui est requis pour un éventuel downgrade une fois la mise à jour 4.1 sortie. Il est aussi important de sauvegarder le fichier SHSH si vous avez l’intention de jailbreaker et désimlocker votre iPhone.

my dear brothers i did many sets downgraded from os 4.0 to 3.1.3 even if u don't have shsh blob & old or new boot rom. now u just have to do the folowing simple steps

Step 1: Download & install libusb-win32-filter-bin-0.1.12.1.zip

Step 2:
Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\ and locate “hosts” file.

Step 3: Open this “hosts” file in Notepad and add this line in the end

Step 4: Restart ur PC (its important)

Step 5: Now restore your device by iTune 9.2 (by DFU mode)

Step 6: When u get error No problem just close iTune

Yes, guys after a lot of months, waiting from Geohot to do something, he has done with the Apple's iPhone 4 Jailbreak. Yes, iPhone 4 has been Jailbroken by Geohot, he has finally published a new blog post talking about limera1n, Pwned4Life and more.. he has managed to Jailbreak iPhone 4 in the same day he Delivered it (he is really fast)

Étape 2 :
Sur Windows :
Depuis le menu Démarrer, recherchez Notepad > faites un clic droit et sélectionnez « Executer en tant qu’administrateur» > entrez votre mot de passe administrateur. Dans Notepad, cliquez sur Fichier > Ouvrir > naviguez jusqu’au dossier C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc et sélectionnez le fichier Hosts(Si Notepad ne trouve pas votre fichier Hosts, sélectionnez « Tous les fichiers» au lieu de « Fichiers textes (*.txt)» .

Notepad ouvrira le fichier Hosts. Dans le fichier Hosts, ajoutez 74.208.105.171 gs.apple.com à la fin(si vous avez déjà une ligne gs.apple.com > supprimez-la) > sauvegardez le fichier, puis quittez Notepad :

Sur Mac OS X :
Lancez Terminal > Entrez la commande suivante puis appuyez sur Entrer :
sudo /Applications/TextEdit.app/Contents/MacOS/TextEdit /etc/hosts

Entrez votre mot de passe administrateur si on vous le demande.

L’application TextEdit ouvrira le fichier Hosts. Dans le fichier Hosts, ajoutez 74.208.105.171 gs.apple.com à la fin(si vous avez déjà une ligne gs.apple.com > supprimez-la) > sauvegardez le fichier, puis quittez TextEdit :

Étape 3 :
Branchez l’iPhone à l’ordinateur et lancez iTunes. Maintenez le bouton principal et le bouton marche/veille pendant 10 secondes. Après ces 10 secondes, relâchez le bouton marche/veille mais continuez à maintenir le bouton principal jusqu’à ce qu’iTunes vous affiche qu’il a détecté un iPhone en mode récupération. Vous pouvez relâcher le bouton principal.

Sur votre iPhone, l’écran doit être noir. Si ce n’est pas le cas, répétez l’étape 2 pour passer en mode DFU :

Étape 4 :
Maintenez la touche Shift(sur Windows) ou Alt(sur Mac OS X) et cliquez sur Restaurer :

Une fenêtre s’affiche(vous pouvez relâcher la touche Shit(Windows) ou Alt(Mac OS X) du clavier) > allez sur votre bureau où vous avez sauvegardé le fichier firmware téléchargé dans l’étape 1 > sélectionnez le fichier firmware > cliquez sur Ouvrir > suivez les instructions affichées pour restaurer l’iPhone 3GS, puis patientez pendant la restauration > ne débranchez pas l’iPhone de l’ordinateur et ne fermez pas iTunes.

Étape 5 :
Durant la restauration, une barre de progression s’affichera sur votre iPhone puis à un moment iTunes vous affichera une erreur 1011, 1013 ou 1015. C’est normal > fermez iTunes :

Étape 6 :
Téléchargez RecBoot pour Mac/Windows > décompressez le fichier zip puis lancez l’application RecBoot > cliquez sur Exit Recovery Mode > patientez pendant quelques instants > votre iPhone redémarrera normalement :

Si la méthode avec RecBoot ne marche pas, essayez la solution ci-dessous:

Fermez iTunes.

Sur votre ordinateur,
avec Windows 32-bits, allez dans C: \Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support
avec Windows 64-bits, allez dans C: \Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support

Créez un nouveau dossier bin dans le dossier Mobile Device Support > glissez et déposez tous les fichiers/dossiers depuis Mobile Device Support dans le dossier bin.

Téléchargez QuickPwn/lien 2 > décompressez le fichier QuickPwn.zip. Votre iPhone doit être branché à l’ordinateur > ouvrez QuickPwn : QuickPwn vous affiche le message suivant : your phone needs to be powered on, please hold the home button and sleep\wake button for 15 seconds > maintenez le bouton principal et le bouton marche/veille pendant 15 secondes > le logo d’Apple s’affiche sur votre iPhone > fermez QuickPwn > votre iPhone redémarre normalement > débranchez votre iPhone de l’ordinateur > redémarrez votre ordinateur.

Sur votre ordinateur :
avec Windows 32-bits, allez dans C: \Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support
avec Windows 64-bits, allez dans C: \Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support

Glissez et déposez tous les fichiers/dossiers depuis bin dans le dossier Mobile Device Support > puis supprimez le dossier bin. Vous pouvez maintenant brancher votre iPhone à l’ordinateur pour le synchroniser sur iTunes.

Votre iPhone est maintenant downgradé à un firmware antérieur.

The all-in-one untethered iDevice jailbreak for iPhone 3.1.3, iPad 3.2 and iPod touch 2G/3G is finally here. Available for both Windows and Mac OS X, Spirit is a userland jailbreak but it does not work out-of-the browser as previously thought. It is in fact a simple one click app, like Blackra1n which can jailbreak (not unlock) any Apple iDevice on iPhone 3.1.2 or 3.1.3.

It is also important to note here that Spirit wont unlock your phone. It is a jailbreaking tool only that will only work on devices which are activated via iTunes. So if you rely on an unlock, DO NOT upgrade to stock firmware or you’ll be stuck. Unlock for iPhone 3.1.3 on 05.12.01 baseband wont be out before the next iPhone hit the shelves. And that wont be before June/July of this year.

Make sure that you have your SHSH files saved. You can jailbreak without saving SHSH files but you wont be safe once Apple patches the exploit used by Spirit. Follow the instructions posted here to save your SHSH blobs

What’s Spirit?

Spirit is an untethered jailbreak for iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch on the latest firmwares.
Spirit is not a carrier unlock.
If your phone is already jailbroken with Blackra1n or Redsn0w, you have to restore to use Spirit. Do not upgradeif you use an unlock on an iPhone 3G or 3GS. (You can, however, restore to 3.1.2 if you have SHSH blobs for that version.)

Requirements

Any iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch on firmware 3.1.2, 3.1.3, or 3.2.
An activated device: one not stuck on the Connect to iTunes or Emergency Call screen.
Any version of iTunes 9 (including 9.1.1).
Note: On iPad, all this is still sort of beta. Some packages in Cydia, not designed for iPad, might screw up your system and require you to restore. Be careful. (And no, Cydia’s appearance is not final.)
